As of February 27, The US Food and Drug Administration has granted Emergency Use Permission to Johnson & Johnson's single-dose COVID-19 vaccine, created by the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, to prevent COVID-19 in people aged 18 and up.
The worldwide 7-day daily average of doses administered per day is currently around 4.6 million per day. Each day there are more providers and locations where you can get these vaccines. This new vaccine will help to increase these numbers and provide for more availability.
Two doses are required for the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, while only one dose is required for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are for those aged 18 and up, while the Pfizer vaccine is for those aged 16 and up.
Many employers offered the vaccine to their employees.
“I got the vaccine because it was offered to teachers, though the school did not offer it directly. We had to find and schedule our own appointments” Ms.Meglino states.
The CDC states that each vaccine has potential side effects. They posted effects such as arm pain where you got the shot some side effects may be, pain, swelling, and redness. As for the rest of your body you may experience chills, tiredness, and a headache.
Some people report having no effects while others seemed to have many.
“I got the Pfizer vaccine and it took about a week to receive it. The whole process took about 10 minutes, a day later I started feeling sick. I had body aches, diarrhea, chills, and was very weak. These side effects only lasted about a day” a nurse from Albany Medical Center said.
Although these side effects aren’t something anyone wants the thought of this one year virus having an end is what everyone is looking for.
State trooper Francisco states “I recommend everyone who can receive the vaccine to get it and end COVID-19, we all just want to go back to not wearing masks, traveling, concerts, and students to go back into schools.”
Even the nurse at Albany med. who had all the side effects and more said “I would recommend everyone to get the vaccine.”
As the world waits patiently to receive news on COVID-19 ending, Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, and the new one Johnson & Johnson’s continues to make these vaccines to make that possible.
